Carb Flu

Last night I slept better than I had in a very long time. Very exciting! But ... then I woke up with a pressure headache, and nausea that ranges from "kind of annoying" to "ahhhh!"  So I haven't been able to eat much today. Or drink my water. :(

I'm told this is called "Carb Flu", seems to me to be the effects of your body detoxing. It's like having a mini-flu. Kinda achy, tired, nauseous, and lethargic, are the most common symptoms. It can last from 2 days to 6 weeks (!!)--depending on how heavily you ate junk before going Primail--and can be mild to feeling like death. I hope I get the mild. Ha

If you have tips on how to survive Carb Flu, PLEASE share. Soon.

  1. For me it was mostly 'brain fog'. Being a software engineer this wasn't the greatest thing. It took 2-3 weeks. But on the other side it's worth it. Being a machine that is geared to use fat for energy instead of always carbs you can be more flexible with eating. I don't get that intense hunger every few hours like I used to.

How to get thru? Sleep, water, great food quality and keep the faith that at the other end is good stuff.

  2. Increasing your fat intake significantly should help. It will help your body understand that it should be breaking down fat for fuel and not waiting for the carbs that aren't coming. Good luck on your journey!

  3. You are probably through with it by now, but I find that eating a good bit of fat and getting some sweet potato can help.
